About Jud
Born and raised in Southern Indiana, Jud McMillin understands the values that are important to the people of our area. Jud graduated from Franklin County High School, where he excelled as both a student and an athlete. Since graduating from college with a bachelors degree in economics and earning his law degree, Jud has returned home and continues to be a leader who cares about his community.
When Jud is not working for local clients throughout Southern Indiana at his family law practice, he continues to play a role in sports serving as a coach on baseball and football teams in addition to remaining active in numerous community projects. Jud believes that we waste too much time and too much money in our state, and will be a strong leader fighting for all of us at the State House. Jud knows if we want to change the way the legislature handles our money and our values, we need to change our vote.
A Note From Jud
I can think of a number of reasons why I chose to do this. The utmost reason is because I know that with the support of the people of southeastern Indiana I can help to make a difference. I have grown tired of reading our papers, and shaking my head in disbelief about what is occurring around us. We all could be better off if we stopped waiting around for things to happen to us, and started planning for the future. We all know that there are actions that can be done now in order to make things better in our lives. When we collectively decide to change our representation today, we will be able to improve tomorrow. I believe we all have a responsibility to take advantage of the opportunity to give what we can to ensure a better future for all of us. We all want to wake up every morning knowing that things are going to improve. I have found myself in a position where I know I can help the people of southeastern Indiana. I know that with the mentality and hard working spirit that exists here in southeastern Indiana we can make a difference when we decide to make a change.
Southeastern Indiana will always be special to me and hold a place in my heart. The people and communities that surround me have instilled in me the values of working hard at whatever I do. My personal belief is that once you have been given something you should work just as hard to give something back. I could go on and on about the lessons, gifts and attributes that the people here have taught or given to me, but I believe that rather than talk about them, I should put them to work. I will use what they have given me not only to give back to those who have given, but also to ensure that that lessons, gifts and attributes are passed on for generations to come.
You can count on me as a leader because I am one of you. We all share the same basic desires: working for a livable wage, owning a home, educating our children, raising and supporting our families, and providing a better community to live in. To be able to achieve these goals we must demand government be accountable to its people, and help provide the people of our area with opportunities for quality, good-paying jobs. This should always be one of our top priorities. We must also demand our government to work for us instead of us being forced to work for the government. We must demand that our government stop putting its own agenda first. Our government must be ever mindful of whom they are there to serve, and it must take a step back from what is going on in Indianapolis to remember what is going on here at our home. We are real people with real issues in southeastern Indiana, and we deserve real attention. We deserve better than what we have. We deserve a government who does not have to be reminded of what is going on at home, and does not encroach on our way of life. We deserve someone who will work tirelessly to meet the many justified demands of the people. I know that I can be the person you can count on to make sure that life here at home is not ignored in Indianapolis.
The man that I am running against first took office in the Statehouse in 1977, when he was right around the age I am now. I was born in 1977, so for me, that's a lifetime. Bob was later elected to the House of Representatives in 1980 when I was three.A lot of the people know Bob Bischoff simply because he has been around for so long, few know him for for what he has done. I am here to tell you that you have a qualified, determined legitimate alternative who will work hard for you.
I have been practicing law for seven years and have been effectively working with people to help them solve the problems that come up in everyday life. Through my other community involvement, such as coaching local high school varsity baseball and football programs, as well as meeting so many of you in my efforts to learn more about our communities, I have been able to hear real people’s real issues. I want to put my real life problem solving skills to work at the Statehouse for you. I refuse to be just another warm body working at the whim of the party elite. I will be at the Statehouse actively working as your voice!
Along the road to anything worthwhile there will be sacrifice. I cannot thank my friends and family enough for what they have already sacrificed, and what they will sacrifice in the future to help us win this election. However, all the sacrifice will be well worth it when we win this election and we all can begin making a difference in southeastern Indiana. It's past time we start planning for our futures, as well as the futures of our children and our children’s children. Your trust in me, to help lead southeastern Indiana through the important decisions that we will face, will not be misplaced.
